The Great DRD Hunt Set to Bring the Coachella Valley Together for Three Weeks of Fun

The Desert Recreation District (DRD), in partnership with the Wellness and Disability Equity Alliance (WADE) and Riverside University Health System, is inviting the entire Coachella Valley to join in on an exciting community adventure — The Great DRD Hunt. This free, family-friendly scavenger hunt will take place from Saturday, September 20 through Saturday, October 11, offering residents a chance to explore, connect, and create unforgettable memories.

Participants can visit DRD locations and sponsor destinations while completing an array of playful challenges, from photo submissions and video clues to Q&A tasks and creative missions. Whether competing with family, friends, co-workers, or flying solo, the hunt promises to uncover new spots, spark laughter, and highlight the vibrant spirit of the valley.

“We’re so excited to bring our community together in such a fun and engaging way,” said Lindsay Woods, Interim General Manager of DRD. “The Great DRD Hunt is more than just a scavenger hunt — it’s a chance to explore, laugh, learn, and build memories. We can’t wait to see the creativity and teamwork that participants bring to the challenges.”

The three-week journey will culminate in a lively community celebration on Saturday evening, October 11, at La Quinta Community Park. The finale will feature food, games, music, and awards for challenge winners, creating the perfect ending to the adventure.

Registration is free and runs from Friday, August 8 at 9 a.m. until Friday, September 12 at 5 p.m. Sign-up is available at MyRecreationDistrict.com in both English and Spanish.

The Great DRD Hunt is made possible by the support of sponsors including Texas Roadhouse, Stuft Pizza, Coachella Valley Firebirds, Berger Foundation Iceplex, Sonic Drive-In, Agua Caliente, Red Jeep Tours, and Fantasy Springs. Organizers are also seeking prize donations — such as gift cards, merchandise, vacation packages, or service vouchers — to reward participants and promote local businesses.
