Drawing the Future: MSWD Opens 2026 Student Art Contest

Mission Springs Water District is once again calling on young artists to put their creativity to work for a good cause. The District has officially opened its 2026 calendar drawing contest, a community tradition that highlights student talent while promoting vital lessons in water conservation and groundwater protection. The contest runs through October 1, 2025, and the top twelve student submissions will be published in MSWD’s 2026 community calendar.

All students in grades K–12 who reside within the MSWD service area are eligible to participate. Contest organizers are encouraging students to create original artwork that brings attention to themes such as saving water, safe disposal of fats, oils, and grease, water-wise car washing, drinking water quality, the importance of not flushing wipes, and the benefits of desert landscaping designed to conserve water.

Entries must be hand-drawn on white paper using crayons, paint, colored pencils, or pens, with full-color illustrations preferred. Computer-generated artwork will not be considered. In addition to recognition in the printed calendar, winners will receive Amazon gift cards—$150 for first place, $100 for second, $50 for third, and $25 for each of the remaining featured entries.

All submissions must include a completed entry form and be mailed to: Mission Springs Water District, Attention: Calendar Contest, 65575 Second Street, Desert Hot Springs, CA 92240. The deadline is October 1, 2025.

Families and students can find full contest details and download entry forms by visiting www.MSWD.org/calendarcontest.
